This self-emptying robotic vacuum cleaner does an excellent job on low-pile carpet and hard floors. The combination brush is able to reach the edges and corners and then automatically boosts suction once it senses carpet. It is also effective at cleaning dirt that is embedded in mid-pile carpet. The IQ's compact footprint for docks and the self-emptying feature are great features. However, if you want to alter the floor level on the map or set no-go zones you'll have to manually reset it to do this, which can be quite a hassle.
The IQ app provides advanced mapping and automated features, but it does not have no-go zones. They are only available on iRobot robots. The smart-pathing navigational system results in superior maneuverability and its high-pile carpet cleaning mode cleans well, though it does have a tendency to get caught up on rug tassels. Its iHome speaker allows you to operate the robot by voice commands.
During our tests, we observed that the IQ was able to handle pet hair effectively. It was able to eliminate a large amount of debris on floors that were unfinished and a good amount of medium-pile rug. It was less effective with shag carpets, where it was unable to reach dirt and dust that was embedded in the fibers. It was able to maneuver the legs of a chair, tiny spaces, and even the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. We did notice it was a little slower on floors that were not paved, but it regained speed and performed more thoroughly than the other robots we tried.
The IQ is a better option than the iRobot Roomba 694 for most uses. It has a bigger dust bin and lasts longer on charge, and is capable of getting around obstacles. It also has mopping attachments that are able to deal with sticky mess. On the other hand, the iRobot feels better-built and has fewer components that require replacement or maintenance and has lower recurring costs, and can create virtual no-go zones with its companion app. It is able to continue cleaning from where it left off, even if its battery runs out before it finishes. The iRobot can also be controlled via voice, which can be an enormous benefit for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S eufy robot vacuum isn't among the most features-rich models, but it offers powerful cleaning power at affordable prices. It's designed for those who don't need a complicated mapping system or an app to control the device. The robot is able to last for more than an hour. It includes an remote control, a cleaning tool, and AC power adapter.
The 11S is slim, sleek and has a tempered-glass upper deck that appears like polished aluminum. It's a nice stylistic departure from Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more industrial and utilitarian.
The eufy11S performed well in our tests of removing larger particles and fine dust from flooring. It struggled to deep clean carpets with high and medium piles. The device also has a tendency to bump into furniture and other objects in its path however, it's able detect obstacles with sensors. It stops and emits a loud sound when it comes across an obstruction. You can then manually steer the device around the obstacle and return it to working.
Another fantastic aspect of the eufy 11S is its BoostIQ mode, which allows you to set the robot to automatically adjust its suction strength to match floor type and the amount of dirt. The remote control makes it simple to direct the 11S to the desired area.
Single Room Mode is a great option for those with small furniture in the space you want to vacuum. The eufy can spend up to 30 minutes cleaning the space it is assigned.
